William Emil
Doerle
Dec 23, 1931 — Jul 22, 2026
Spring Hill, Tennessee
William Emil Doerle, age 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Morning Pointe of Spring Hill.
Born in Syracuse, New York, William was the son of the late Wilhelm and Henrietta Doerle. He was one of six children and spent his life building lasting friendships through his kind heart, quick wit, and easygoing spirit.
William dedicated 30 years of service to General Motors before retiring. While he took pride in his career, those who knew him best will remember him most for the joy he brought to others. Friendly and outgoing, he had a way of making everyone feel like a friend. His playful banter, patient demeanor, caring soul, and wonderful sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
At Morning Pointe of Spring Hill, he became affectionately known as "Mr. Bill." Whether greeting staff, neighbors, or visitors, he was always ready with a smile and his signature response: "I'm up and about and taking nourishment." It was a phrase that perfectly reflected his cheerful outlook and brought smiles to countless faces. He will be deeply missed by all whose days he made a little brighter.
William's memory will be cherished by his loving children, Margaret (James) Ribley of Tennessee, Melanie (Stewart) Wattenbe of New York, Matthew Doerle of North Carolina, and son-in-law: Dale Galasso of Massachusetts; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his beloved siblings, Walter (Ellen) Doerle of Massachusetts, Richard (Clara) Doerle of New York, Ruth (Jerald) Holbrook of New York, Eleanor "Lorlie" March of Arkansas, and MaryAnn (Karl) Pittner of New York.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rita Sherman Doerle, and his daughters, Patricia "Pat" Doerle Galasso and Janet Doerle.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in William's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Heart Association.
Though William's presence will be deeply missed, his kindness, laughter, and the many smiles he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
