Virginia L. Opdahl

Virginia L. Opdahl (née Schnicke), age 94, passed away on March 17, 2021, at her home surrounded by family in Maryville, TN.

Preceded in death by her father, Fred Schnicke; mother, Jemima Dean Schnicke, husband, Stanton Opdahl; and brother, William Schnicke. Virginia is survived by her children: Mark (Susan) Opdahl of Moose Lake, MN, Karen (Don) Wiley of Vonore, TN; and Lynn Bly of Yuma, AZ; 9 grandchildren: Christian, Chelsea, and Hailee Opdahl, Katy Gilbertson, Amanda (Bob) Derhake, Scott (Asli) Gilbertson, Shari Bly, Scott Bly, and Michelle DeAnda; and 13 great-grandchildren: Karen, Timothy, Alycia, John, Madison, AJ, Deja, Adrianna, David, Cesar, Bobby, Beatrice, and Becca; and many nieces and nephews.

Virginia was born on June 23, 1926, in Norwood, OH. She attended Norwood High School and graduated in 1944. She met her husband, Stanton when he was stationed in Texas and they married on April 1, 1945, and remained so for 58 years until his death in 2003. Virginia worked as a Real Estate Agent and enjoyed telling stories about her experiences with clients and selling homes. Virginia loved talking to friends and family.

Reading has always been a lifetime love for Virginia, but as she grew older, her vision declined, and she relied on audiobooks to keep her mind active.

Virginia was a sharp, witty, and intelligent woman that always kept you on her toes. Her smile, laughter, and warmth will be missed greatly.
