Obituary
Shirley Melvin, age 84, died Sunday at Hidden Acres Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant, TN, and a native of Oakland, MI, and the last of six children of the late Elmer Charles Jencks and Sarah Melissa Lee Jencks. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Claude William Melvin, Jr.; and two children: Toni Melvin Tucker and Timothy Melvin. Shirley is survived by five children: Lyn Buddy Stickles of Payson, AZ, Terry Pam Melvin of Highland, MI, Larry Ann Melvin of Highland, MI, Tamara Eric Geiselhart of RI, and Lisa Earl Helton of Columbia, TN; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Over the years, Shirley was a volunteer quilter for the Kids Fighting AIDS Foundation, having taken part in creating over 600 quilts. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Kids Fighting AIDS- 317 West 8th Street Columbia, TN 38401.

Ms. Melvin was a delight to work with in therapy…I will miss her greatly..and her antics. I will always fondly remember when she was feeling good and would stand up and dance and tell me the stories of her life. May God watch over and bless the loved ones she has left behind.

Lisa and Earl, I am so sorry for your loss. We all loved Ms. Shirley and we will miss her dearly. I am so glad to have met her and enjoyed her sense of humor.
