Sheila Mae Ramsey

Sheila was born on March 7, 1941 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to Clyde Andrew Ramsey and Mabel Cook Perlstrom. She was educated in Vancouver, Canada and Pasadena, California, where she met and married Gardner Luke Dixon. After her husband graduated medical school, he was recruited to Nashville’s Riverside Sanitarium, where they moved with their baby daughter. While attending school in Nashville, Tennessee, they were blessed with two sons. She earned both, Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Sociology from Tennessee A & I State Normal College. She later moved to Norfolk, Virginia and went on to have a successful career in sociology, working and living in the Washington, D. C. area and Silver Springs, Maryland before retiring in Nashville. She was a sweet soul who who attended Riverside Seventh Day Adventist Church in Nashville.

On Monday, July 18, 2016, Sheila left to mourn her passing, her children: Lynne Renée Dixon-Speller (Jeffrey), Gardner Lewis Dixon and James Andrew Dixon; grandchildren: Dalton Dixon Speller (Rachel), Relyea Dixon Speller, Tyler Olivia Dixon, Gardner Luke Dixon II, Joshua Amari Dixon, Mya Elizabeth Dixon; great-grandson: Jeffrey Dalton Speller; and siblings: Bill Perstrom, Louise Lowe-Kemball, Brad Perlstrom, and Kathy Burwell.

The family will celebrate Sheila’s life on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Riverside Seventh Day Adventist Church Chapel, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Cremation Society of Tennessee is assisting the family with the arrangements and online condolences can be made to the family at www.cremationsocietyoftn.com.
