Obituary
Cherished mother and friend of all, Sandra Diana Walters, passed on December 23, 2012 at 9:09 p.m. like the Lakota Sioux warrior she was – with great spirit, strength and grace. She will be missed and live on through her children, Shawn-Michelle Surber, Stephen Marcus Surber and Danny K. Watson, Jr., her dearest love, Jerry Lee Surber, her brother and his wife sister-in-law Jim and Lorraine Walters and her oldest friend, George B. Shields. Sandra is an angel now much like she was when she was here. And while she was with us, though only 65 years young, she was a light and a gift in everyone’s life that ever met her. She was a great, wise, soul and believed that we are all one and we are all connected. In her Native words: ‘Mitakuye Oyasin’. Peace and Love, together forever, dearest one. You will live on in every ray of sunshine, every dragonfly, butterfly and gentle breeze. Look no further than in your heart and you will find her there singing. Her talent, magic and light will shine on. Look for ladybugs. She sends those as a reminder that she is ever-present. May we all walk in beauty in her honor. We celebrate her new adventure with The Great Spirit.
With all the love in our hearts, her family. Celebration of life to be determined at a later date. Condolences may be sent in her name in the form of a donation to the American Cancer Society. Side note: Sandra was known and loved greatly by her customers in the Grassland area of Franklin, TN., where she worked at the dry cleaners for 17 years. She also lived in Hickman county in Lyles, TN. where she had a farm and her beloved horses, Roller, Judge and Cowboy and her dogs, Little Bit, Bogie and Josie. May she forever be in peace.

I had to share this quote that I found so comforting…. “I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.” Although I only have wonderful childhood memories of Sandra I know how much she was loved by my beautiful sister Shawn and her family. Sandra your an angel now and you will be missed so very much, but you will continue to live on in our memories forever. xx

I’m feeling blessed to have known your Mother even for a fleeting moment. Your words in her honor were very touching and descriptive of your relationship. Peace, light and love to you my friend.
