Rodney William Grover

Mr. Rodney William “Rod” Grover, age 73 of Brentwood, TN died Friday evening in Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org or by contacting 1-800-342-2383. Rod was a native of Denver, Colorado and son of the late Harry Wells and Lela Ellen Holland Grover. Being born in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, he maintained a lifelong love of nature, enjoying hiking, skiing, and virtually any outdoor activity. This also became the foundation of his private, and personal, faith in God. He was able to fulfill a longtime dream of traveling in his motorhome for a few years until his health began to fail him. Throughout life, Rod had a heart for those in need. He was known for his passion for Constitutional Law and standing for the rights of people, no matter their background. He was well known as a “do-gooder” according to his wife. “When he saw a need, he simply helped with no questions asked. He loved life, loved people, and was a joy to be around.” Music and dancing were also an important part of what made Rod so special. He was described as being “as light as a feather” on his feet when the music played. He served his country in the United States Marines in the late 1950’s, stationed in Miami, Panama, and Cuba. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Betty Grover of Brentwood, TN, and FeFe, his canine companion. Friends and family will celebrate Mr. Grover’s life in a private celebration event.
