Robert Dunn, 60, of Franklin, TN, passed away on January 25, 2010 after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer. Robert was the devoted husband of Joan Dorfman; loving father of Jeffrey, Michelle, and Michael Dunn; cherished brother of Cathy Dunn; nephew of Shirley and Donald Reisman. He was preceded in death by his father, David “Buddy” Dunn and his mother, Joan B. Dunn. Born in Dublin Georgia, Robert attended Dublin H.S. and graduated from Darlington School. He received his bachelor’s degree from University of Virginia, his law degree from Cumberland School of Law, and his master’s degree in taxation from the NYU School of Law School. Robert was a member of the Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee Bars, and the New York Society of CPA’s. He practiced law in metro Atlanta for over thirty years. Robert was passionate about the game of golf. He was championship golfer in high school and played on the varsity team at UVA. Robert loved listening to and playing trumpet music; and in his later years he was an avid reader. He had the gift of making perfect strangers his friends from the moment they first met. A great story teller, Robert will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his compassion, and his generosity. Memorial gifts may be made to the Kidney Cancer Association. The family will celebrate with private services.

  2. Robert was a treasured childhood friend. His family lived around the corner from our family, and we shared many happy memories from growing up in Dublin. Our prayers are with you and your family. Knowing Robert, it is quite easy to understand that he fought this terrible disease and won the battle for many years. Robert never took the easy road…always the best road! We were blessed to have had him in our lives and in our memories of a magical childhood in Dublin.
