Robert E. McKellar, 90, died Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the residence of his daughter in Lebanon, Tennessee. He was born on February 26, 1922 in Indian Rock, Texas to Peter S. and Rosie Wallace McKellar. For 60 years his home was in Bastrop, LA. Mr. McKellar was a devoted member of Central Church of Christ and served in the Navy during World War II. He was retired from International Paper Co. and loved cutting down trees, hunting and fishing. He generously gave of himself to his family, friends and community. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Pogue and husband Larry of Lebanon TN, sons Ray McKellar and wife Jan of Carson City, NV and Joe McKellar and wife Karla of Whitefish MT; his step-daughter Deborah Hicks of Sacramento CA; grandson Gary Don Madden and wife Gale of Crossett, AR; granddaughters Cheryl Roozen and husband Tony of Tacoma WA and Ann Collins also of Tacoma, WA; step-grandchildren Leslie Hicks of CA and Shane Pogue of AR; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Mr. McKellar was preceded in death by his first wife, Athelene Holloway McKellar, who died in 1974 and his second wife, Virginia Harrell McKellar who died in 2006. Robert was a loving caregiver to both during lengthy illnesses. Memorial Services for Robert McKellar are scheduled for Saturday, 1-26-2013, at 10 a.m., at Central Church of Christ, 5743 Mer Rouge Rd., Bastrop, LA, 71220. Memorials may be made to Central Church of Christ Library. The remains will be cremated and a graveside service will be held at a later date.
