Obituary

Mildred A. Wallace, age 92 of Columbia, TN, left this earth peacefully at NHC-Columbia. Mildred was born and raised in West Virginia, and moved to Nashville in 1956. She worked for many years at Harvey’s and Castner Knott Department stores. She was a Nazarene by faith, loved her family, reading, crocheting, baking and talking on the telephone. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years: Charles H. Wallace; and is survived by a son: Rev. Charles T. “Tom” Ann Wallace of Columbia, TN; two daughters: Julia Rex Houston of Middleport, OH and Marilyn Rose Roland Zaleski of The Villages, FL; and one sister: Mae Ray Hoffman of Grand Junction, CO. Ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren also survive. The family wishes to thank the staff of NHC-Columbia and CARIS Hospice, both of Columbia, TN for the kind, loving care they gave to Mildred these past two years. Memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday in the Chapel of the First United Methodist Church in Columbia, TN. A remembrance gathering for family and friends will follow at her son’s home at 412 W. 6th Street. Graveside and committal services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Saturday at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens on Thompson Lane in Nashville, TN.
