Mike lived in Fayetteville, Tennessee, passing away on June 23, 2025, after an over 15-year battle with Multiple System Atrophy Cerebellum.

Mike was born on March 1st, 1958, to Russel Don Haynes and Marie Patricia Haynes in Havre de Grace, Maryland. He grew up in Satellite Beach, Florida and Huntsville, Alabama before moving and attending high school in Fayetteville, Tennessee where his wife, children, and grandchildren carry on his legacy.

After graduating from Central High School in 1977, he went on to graduate from the University of Alabama Huntsville as a Mechanical Engineer.

He landed his first job as an engineer for Teledyne which is where he met his loving wife of 40 years. It was 1983, when he met Isabel Yusi Yumul, and they wed in 1985. They brought 3, bright and beautiful souls into the world together- Stephanie Nicole Haynes Anderson (39), Ryan Michael Haynes (37), and Joseph Don Haynes (31).

Mike & Bell’s generosity and love didn't stop there. Officially adopting Bernardo Rey Yumul (39) and Alexis Isabella Mau (25).

His career culminated with his dream job, working for NASA. He traveled the world, living his dream, and was rewarded with the honor of receiving the prestigious flown Silver Snoopy Award, for outstanding achievements related to human flight safety or mission success. The award is given personally by NASA astronauts as it represents the astronauts' own recognition of excellence.

Mike was a force of nature - like a depthless ocean of compassion, generosity, patience, and kindness. He was determined to provide for all of his family and give them the life he knew they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, he was always ready to support all and show true moral integrity through actions. He was unendingly proud of being a father and grandfather always tried his best to provide and guide them. As every true member of The Ancient and Honorable Order of Turtles would.

Mike was a passionate angler and swimmer. He could often be found fishing or swimming or both when he had the opportunity. He loved reading Sci-Fi and Fantasy books, a love he shared with his children. He also loved to cycle, camp, and travel. As the family “Tinkerer”, walking into his garage or office, you would find projects everywhere – from simple fix-its to diy Redneck Rocket Scientist experiments.

Anyone who knew Mike could see that he was the most loving husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, and uncle any family could ask for. He was resolute to be a net positive to the world and fulfilled his aim to be the best person he could, contributing his all to humanity as a whole.

Mike is predeceased by his parents Don & Marie Haynes.

He is survived by his wife Bell, {daughter} Steph and Brent Anderson - {grandsons} Finn and Theo, {son} Ryan and Lydia Adams Haynes, {son} Joe and Chelsi Haynes - {granddaughters} Mercy and Millie, {son} Bernard, {daughter} Bella, 3 siblings: {brother} Pat, {sister} Anne, {brother} Brian (their spouses & children), and an almost untold number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many many extended family members who looked up to him as their treasured Uncle and father-figure.
