Obituary
Mr. Kenneth Allen “Ken” Byrd, age 56 of Dyersburg, TN, died Friday morning in Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Lima, OH and son of the late Kermit Byrd and Delores Spurlock Byrd Phillips, who survives. Ken was a graduate of Marshall University with a fierce pride in being part of the Thundering Herd. He served his country in the United States Navy. Ken was a devoted son, brother, husband, uncle and father. He loved his children and grandchildren and had a natural passion for living. He often tinkered with things to either fix them, or just to see how they worked. He lived and active life until illness struck him 17 years ago, leading him to live quietly with his wife and dogs until his death. He saw his time on earth through the eyes of his devotion to his God. A kind and caring man, Ken is survived by his wife: Paula Strickland Byrd of Dyersburg, TN; 2 children: Kenneth Allen Jr. and Amanda, both of Huntington WV; his mother: Delores Phillips of Huntington WV; sister: Debbie Hatfield of St. Louis MO; and three grandchildren. The family will celebrate Ken’s life at a later date.

We, your neighbors, send our sincerest sympathy, love to you, yours and ken’s family .. we are rather in shock .. did not know until in the paper and now our other neighbors are calling me to see if there is anything we can do and asking when the memorial service is. I am rather embarrased that I know not what to do. We love you both so much. I know we have an awkward way of showing it. Even though I am moving no more than a mile away, I will always be your friend and neighbor. Please let me know if there is anything you need that you think/feel I or all of your neighbors can do for you. In Christian Love … Brenda Enochs
