Josie May Sanders

Josie May Sanders, 48, resident of Lewisburg, TN, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN.

Josie was born and raised in Lewisburg. She was a graduate of Marshall County High School, Class of 1995. Josie was fond of collectibles and anime, and she enjoyed dancing, watching movies, & taking walks with her daughters. She was a kind-hearted animal lover. Josie will be remembered for her sense of humor and her strong devotion to her daughters. Supporting her girls and encouraging their pursuit of hobbies and talents was of utmost importance to her. She was a loving friend, quick to put others before herself. Those who knew Josie loved her, and she will be deeply missed.

Josie is survived by her daughters, Isabella Monique Sanders and Lillie Caritina Sanders; her father Wayne (Betty) Duncan; her mother Deborah Poarch; brothers Michael Duncan, Les Poarch, Wesley Poarch, and Charles Poarch; sisters Tiffany Sommers, Ashton Johnson, and Connie Poarch; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind beloved god-children Morgan, Marley, & Hailey.She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lillie May Duncan, who held a very special place in Josie’s heart.

A private graveside service for Josie will be held at a later date.
