Johnnye Clark

With sadness and gratitude we announce the passing of Johnnye E. Clark on February 8, 2022 in Nashville, TN after a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease and dementia. Born January 20, 1942, in Long Beach, California, he grew up mostly in Downey, California. Johnnye attended Downey High School where he lettered in football. After graduation, he started work for the telephone company. Johnnye spent his entire career with General Telephone (later Verizon) doing telephone installation and repair.  He loved woodworking and spent a lot of time in his shop building everything from wooden toys to furniture. Johnnye also enjoyed sketching and golf. Johnnye was a loyal and faithful servant of Jesus and always free with a helping hand and ready laugh.

Johnnye is survived by his wife, Marilyn Clark. He was a loving stepfather to Tim (Helen) Lewis of Sacramento, CA, David (Saskia) Lewis of Nashville, TN, and Jennifer (Kyrk) Jordan of San Mateo, CA. He is also survived by his children Barbara Jo Clark of San Antonio, TX and Bryan Wade Clark of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. He will be missed by Shannon, Miriam, Brahms, Julianna, DJ, Maya, and Jason who knew him as Grandpa Johnnye. His loss is mourned by Paul and Pam Gossard of Eureka, CA, and Lois Gossard and Carl and Paula Gossard of Brookings, OR and friends he made along the way in Morgan Hill, CA, Eureka, CA, Willow Creek, CA, Fortuna, CA, and Nashville, TN.

Johnnye had a way of expressing his enthusiasm for you and you always felt like he was excited for you and believed in you. Everyone needs that and we miss it already. He will be dearly missed and we look forward to seeing him again. A private ceremony will be held later this summer. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Calvary Community Church, PO Box 192, Fields Landing, CA 95537.
