John Stone

July 21, 1953 - April 14, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John W. Stone, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. John passed away peacefully at his home on April 14, 2023, after a courageous 10-year battle with cancer.

John was born on July 21, 1953, in Evansville, Indiana, to John W. and Hazel M. Stone (Simpson). He grew up in the area and graduated from South Spencer High School in 1971. He went on to attend Indiana University until 1972.

John was an organized and analytical thinker. Over the years, he worked primarily in various supervisory capacities within the production industry, but he found his passion in contracts administration and consulting. He worked for many years at Granges corporate office in Franklin, TN, where he eventually retired.

John was a very spiritual person with a talent for writing and poetry. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and was a gifted storyteller. He was kind and caring, and he touched the lives of many with his warm personality and positive outlook on life.

John enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, woodworking, and maintaining and driving his tractors. Hobbies included playing his dulcimer, building 3D wooden puzzles, and reading. He enjoyed his fur babies, and spending time with his grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife, three children, Brian (Kat) Stone, Jimi Stone, and Christy Stone, stepson Randy (Hollie)Masters, sister Janie LeClere, nieces Lisa (Blake) Chapman, Lori (Todd) Grau, nephew Brett LeClere, and five grandchildren Drake, Miles, Jude, Kindred and Cora. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Catherine, his stepson Andrew, and his great niece Valarie.

John will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of John can be made to the American Cancer Society
