Joel Don Kimble (Joe), age 87, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, while in hospice care. He was born on April 22, 1938, in Perry County, Tennessee, along Marsh Creek, to the late Donald Kimble and Ruth Kimble (DePriest).
Joel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bettye Sue Kimble (Hughes); his parents; his brothers G.B. Kimble and wife Nina Kimble, Carl Kimble and Ronald Kimble; his son, Jeffrey Wilson Kimble; and other cherished family members who went before him.
In his early years, Joel’s family moved to Nashville, where he attended and graduated from Hume-Fogg High School in 1956. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy until receiving a medical discharge due to an injury sustained while serving a board ship.
Joel was a dedicated and hardworking man throughout his life. Alongside his brothers, he spent many years working as a salesman for Combined Insurance Company of America. Later, he served his community as a dispatcher with the Fairview Police Department. He also worked for many years at Home Depot in Bellevue and Lowe’s in Dickson, where he was especially known for his knowledge and love of gardening, just one of his lifelong passions.
In 1972, Joel and his family moved to a farm in Fairview, Tennessee, where his wife Bettye had grown up and attended West High School in Fairview. Deeply committed to the community, Joel co-founded the Fairview Jr. Pro Football program helping provide opportunities for local youth. He also served as a TSSAA official, refereeing high school basketball games across Middle Tennessee for many years.
Joel is survived by his children: Joel Don Kimble II (Joey), James Ellis Kimble (Jamie) and his wife Loretta, Jason Douglas Kimble and his wife Sally and Tisa Suzanne Kimble
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Joel Don Kimble III (Jody); Autumn Suter and her husband Jeff; Summer Yanosko (Brooke) and her husband Chris, Abby Fleming and her husband Trevor; Alex Moore and her husband Trent; Austin Kimble, Jesse Kimble and his wife Sarah; Jacob Kimble, Courtni Kimble, Jason Kimble Jr., Nevaeh Kimble, Jorby Kimble.
Joel was blessed with 11 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him great joy and pride.
Joel Don Kimble will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; a veteran; a mentor to youth; and a man who believed in service, family, and community. His steady presence, strong work ethic, and willingness to give back left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
