Obituary
James Michael Mike Colt passed away peacefully on Friday, February 5, 2010 at the age of 67 in Cumming, GA. Born in Atlanta on August 7, 1942 and a graduate of Marist High School and both Georgia Tech and the University of Alabama in Birmingham, he lead a rich and fulfilling life that took him from the early days of NASCAR to the Atlanta Children’s Zoo, to Lockheed and the Skylab project to Chrysler, and from Alabama to Steamboat Springs and the rest of Colorado, back to NASCAR and Georgia. Just as comfortable working on a car or building a house as discussing the intricacies of world religions and national politics, as well as the finer points of the Delta and Chicago blues, he held a wide-ranging group of interests and passions that guided him to befriend people of all strata of life. His father, Walter Colt preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother Vicky of Nashville, TN; his brother Jon of Dahlonega, GA; and his son Walt of Nashville, TN. The family will conduct private memorial services to honor Mr. Colt’s life. The family requests that memorial donations be made in Mike’s memory to the American Lung Association www.lungusa.org or Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids www.tobaccofreekids.org

Dear Walter, I just heard about your father’s death today, August 11, just 4 days after his birthday. I am so very sorry. Just a few days ago, I saw his name in my address book and thought I should write him. I was visiting with Sandy, Bill Tomlinson’s former wife tonight and she told me. Again, I am so sorry. Michael was a good person, bright, thoughtful,a good friend who befriended my brother Tom and who loved his son. I hope you receive this. Sincerely, Anne Hinnendael
