Mr. Jack Willard Scharrer, age 74, resident of Taylor Road in Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at his residence. Born on January 24, 1937 in Flint, Michigan, he was the son of the late Ovid and Mary Elizabeth Kaploch Scharrer. Jack was the husband of Sue Stone Scharrer of Columbia. He was a veteran having served in the Marines. He loved fishing and was an avid fisherman. Jack was a retired foreman with General Motors. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Christopher Scharrer of Chelsea, Michigan, Randy Scharrer of Aripeka, Florida and Jody Scharrer of Easley, South Carolina; a step-son, Brian Stone of San Antonio, Texas; step-daughter, Janet Stone of Columbia; his siblings, Barbara Johnson, Carol Lee Jones and Evelyn Leech all of Burton, Michigan, Kenneth Scharrer of Flint, Michigan and Michael Scharrer of Mt. Morris, Michigan; and 8 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fredrick Scharrer.   2. So sorry to hear of Jack’s death. I remember him as a boy, but circumstances kept many of us apart and we missed knowing who they grew up to be and sharing our life joys with each other. I understand he was a patriot and an outdoorsman and he lived life to the fullest. I hope all who knew him well will keep his stories and accomplishments alive for many years to come.     Jack was a great man….just ran across this while searching for him on Facebook..after wishing Chris Scharrer Happy Birthday. I am so sorry Chris, Randy, Jodie and Jack’s wife Sue and family. I have many memories of him but I’ll never forget his smile. My condolences to the Scharrer’s, family and friends. You touched my life and many, many others. I’m sure of it.
