Obituary
Fred Dale Smith, age 58, of Ashland City, passed away on Monday, September 16, at Centennial Medical Center. Fred was born October 14, 1954 in Cheatham County, the son of Mrs. Cora Lee Bateman Smith of Clarksville and the late Herman Smith. He was self employed as a truck driver and truly enjoyed woodworking. The delight of Fred’s life was his grandson, Eli Ellis Ferguson. Fred served in the United States Army in Vietnam and was of the Baptist faith. Along with Eli and his mother, Fred is survived by his dear wife, Alice Faye “Tina” Gifford Smith of Ashland City; one brother, Randy Wanda Smith of Whites Creek, one sister, Betty Mike Holzkamper of Clarksville, his step-daughter, Tonya Blankenship Ferguson Tim Ellis of Nashville, two daughters, Jessica McGill of Pleasant View and Julia Carter of Hendersonville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family to help with expenses incurred during Fred’s illness. The family will celebrate Fred’s life with a private memorial service.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Fred but it he is anything like his step-daughter Tonya and grandson Eli then I missed out on getting to meet a great man. My condolences to the family and when at times it will be hard just look back on the special memories that you made together and God will help you through it.
