Mr. Fred “Britt” Hollingsworth, age 85, of Burns, TN passed away Friday, January 13, 2012 in Bon Aqua at the home of his daughter. Britt was born December 23, 1926 in Littlefield, Texas to the late Mack and Lillie Hollingsworth. The family later made their home in Wynnewood, Oklahoma where Britt resided until he enlisted in the United States Army and served in World War II. He returned home and married Ovella Pettigrew in 1945. They later moved to Tennessee in 1992 to be close to their family after Britt retired from Maremont Industries as an electrical engineer. Britt and Ovella were married 62 years until Ovella’s death in 2006. Britt is survived by one daughter, Beverly Stuart, of Bon Aqua, Tennessee, two granddaughters, Shelley Jackson husband Scott of Burns, Tennessee and Jennifer Hollingsworth Barry husband Roy of New Hope, Minnesota as well as one great granddaughter, Eden Britt Barry of New Hope, Minnesota. He is also survived by one niece, Marsha Mercer of Wynnewood, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his wife, his mother and father, 2 sisters, 1 brother and 2 nephews.
Britt was a member of Burns Baptist Church. There will be a private family service to celebrate his life.
