Frances Rogers and I actually met in 4th grade at Southwest Elementary in Independence, MO. We immediately became friends, which lasted for a lifetime. She had written about her move to Smyrna and scolded me when I sent mail to her old address. Ha Ha When Fran and Dale married, my husband, Bill, and I were approached by Dale’s friends to snatch Fran away from the wedding party by telling her that Dale wanted us to take her to meet him to get away from his friends who were doing onary things like jacking up his car, etc. Dale had two cars, one hidden in another place. She was pretty mad at us at first when she realized we had kidnapped her and Dale couldn’t find her. We kept her away for an hour or so. Hopefully, later, she forgave us. In all her worldly travels and raising a beautiful family and my busy life of raising two daughters, we didn’t see each other much but did stay in touch. I wish now we had stayed closer. I would have been there if she needed me. I feel sure her loving family was there for her. We visited her several years ago and she accompanied us on the boat in Nashville for dinner and a cruise. We also took her with us to the Grand Old Opry. The last I heard from her she stated she hoped my health was better than hers. I was so looking forward to seeing her at the 60th reunion in Independence this September. She was loved so much and certainly will be missed. I’ve lost a wonderful friend. My heart goes out to the family. Thelma Borgman Kelley, 190 Olean Rd., Eldon, MO 65026
