Emily L. Mcgehee

Emily L. Hill McGehee, age 72, formerly of Thompson Station, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 following an extended illness at Life Care Center of Centerville.

Emily was born on February 9, 1944 to the late Raymond and Rose Marie Bull Hill in Chicago, Illinois. On December 17, 1966 she was wed to Fred McGehee and they had two children together. Emily was an extremely talented seamstress and dressmaker, creating and sewing many wedding gowns and prom dresses over the years. She also was a gifted teacher of this skill, reaching many people who are now scattered all over the world. She was a Christian lady who loved her church family at Thompson Station Church of Christ.

Having been born in Chicago, Emily was a life-long Chicago Cubs fan. Surprisingly to some who may not have known her very well, Emily loved heavy metal music, with AC/DC and Motorhead being her two favorite groups. She was also known to rock-out on the drums! Adding to this exciting persona, she liked and wanted a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Mrs. McGehee is survived by her husband of forty-nine years: Fred McGehee of Franklin; children: Brennan (Lillian) McGehee of Ohio and Heather (John) Arnold of W. Virginia; grandchildren: Patric McGehee, Andrea Quinn Leady, Alejandra McGehee and Isabella McGehee; great-granddaughter: Amethyst McGehee; and siblings: Rose (Tom) McDonald and Frank (Peggy) Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents: Raymond and Rose Marie Hill.

The family will celebrate Emily’s life with a memorial service at a later date.

Cremation Society of Tennessee is assisting the family with the arrangements and online condolences may be made to the family at www.cremationsocietyoftn.com.
