Obituary

Mrs. Elaine Pettit, age 81 of Columbia, died Sunday evening at her daughter’s residence. Mrs. Pettit was a native of Cleveland, OH, and daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Nulick Cappaton. She was a member of the Catholic Church, a homemaker, and the widow of Carl Pettit, who died in 2008. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son: Christopher. She is survived by 7 children: Candice James Barton of Columbia; Kim Alan Julie Pettit of Allen Park, MI; Pamela Cox of River Rouge, MI; Susan Ross Martin of Wyandotte, MI; Eric Cyndi Pettit of Rochester Hills, MI; Philip Diana Pettit of Woodhaven, MI; and Mary Zalewski of Fowlerville, MI. In addition, she is survived by 17 grandchildren: Mark Barton, Michael Barton, Jill Barton, David Barton, Nicole Pettit, Jessica Pettit, Mary Pettit, Kelly Pettit, Brandon Cox, Mitchell Cox, Jeffrey Cox, Caleb Martin, Josie Martin, Katelyn Pettit, Sarah Pettit, Christine Pettit, and Carl Pettit; and one great-granddaughter: Ella Barton.
