Obituary

Lt. Col. Don A. Baldwin, age 93 passed away Saturday March 3, 2012 at Williamson Medical Center. Lt. Col Baldwin was born October 29, 1918 to the late Ernest & Clara Baldwin in the country of Chile, where his father was working as a civil engineer. Mr. Baldwin attended the University of Michigan, in his parents’ home state, until he was called to serve our county in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII. He served for many years in the Air Force reserve. He was a graduate of the Syracuse University School of Business Administration, and earned a Masters Degree in Education from the State University of New York at Oswego. He taught math for many years in upstate New York before retiring. He is described by his family as a Godly man who loved his family. Mr. Baldwin is survived by his daughter Martha Rappe of Franklin, TN. One Son: Douglas Lisa Baldwin of Oswego, NY. Four Granddaughters: Sara Baldwin Esq. of Narberth, PA, Jennifer Marriner of Fulton, NY, Laura Lee Adam Zinn Esq. of Franklin, TN, and Shelley Chad Ramsey of Nashville, TN; Two Grandsons: Matt Brandy Rappe MD of Knoxville, TN, AND Scott Rappe of Franklin, TN; Four Great Grandsons: Jack, Luke & Hank Rappe of Knoxville, TN and Benjamin Zinn of Franklin, TN; Three Great Granddaughters: Mattie Rappe of Knoxville, TN, Emma Kate, and Annabelle Zinn of Franklin, TN. Mr. Baldwin was preceded in death by his wife Margaret C. Baldwin.   1. I was saddened to read of Don’s passing although I can only imagine that his later years were not all that great for him. He is obviously in a wonderful place now … and with Margaret again. I so enjoyed them as a couple at BFUMC. I found them to be such a dear, sweet, fine couple. My thoughts and prayers are with you as the family adjusts to your loss in the days, weeks, months ahead.
