Charles Ray
Prince
January 8, 1951 – April 28, 2026
Charles “Charley” Ray Prince passed away peacefully at his home on April 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born in Oxnard, California, but made his home in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.
Charley was preceded in death by his father, Ed Howard, and his mother, Peggy Fisk.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Tommie Prince, whose love and partnership were the foundation of his life. He also leaves behind his cherished siblings: Steve Prince of Oxnard, California; Suzanne Johnson (Scott) of Palestine, Texas; Christine Karisko of Camarillo, California; and Tim Prince (Paulette) of Camarillo, California.
Charley was a proud and loving father to Charles Prince Jr. (Anita) of Lexington, Alabama, and Lisa Durham (Kenneth) of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. His legacy continues through his grandchildren—Dillon Durham (Kelsey), Adam Durham (Tori), Ashley Gorowsky (Hans), Trey Prince, Will Wright, Salora Wright, and T.J. Wright—as well as 12 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.
Charley will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had a deep love for life and was known for consistently offering encouragement, kindness, and unwavering support to those around him. His loyalty and compassion left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
A faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Charley found great joy in serving others and had the privilege of teaching the boys (Royal Ambassadors) for several years, helping guide and inspire younger generations.
He was also known for his memorable sayings, which reflected his outlook on life: “Endeavor to preserve,” “Copy that,” “Never give up,” and “Get busy living or get busy dying.” These words continue to echo the strength and spirit he shared so freely.
A celebration of Charley’s life will be held at a later date in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.
