Billy Hayes Dority, Jr., age 69, passed away on May 15, 2026, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Born in Smyrna, Tennessee, Billy was the son of the late Billy H. Dority, Sr. and Betty Jean Health Dority.

Billy built a lifelong career in the firearms industry, dedicating many years to his craft and eventually serving as a Supervisor for Barrett Firearms Manufacturing. He took great pride in his work and the knowledge he gained throughout his career. Outside of work, Billy had a deep love for motorcycles and the freedom and adventure that came with riding.

Above all else, Billy treasured his family. He shared 41 beautiful years with his soulmate and loving wife, Mattie Evelyn King Dority. Together, they built a life centered around love, loyalty, and family. Billy deeply loved his children: David Neal, Kristy Dettman, Billy Dority III, Michael Dority, John Dority, and Jeremy Dority. He was also a proud grandfather to Anthony Dority, Maxwell Dettman, Malichi Dettman, Miah Dority, and Austin Dority, and cherished his great-grandchildren, Adden Dority and Liam Emmanuel Dority.

Billy is also survived by his siblings, Donna (Ricky) Pitts and David (Loretta) Dority.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Dority.

Billy will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love for the open road, and the devotion he showed to those he loved most. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
